My Background

“What will you do with your philosophy degree?”

~ My Dad

Turns out, quite a bit!

After being undeclared for two full years of college, I graduated early with my philosophy degree.

My dad — who is a compassionate and supportive person in my life — did feel compelled to ask me what I would do for work with that degree.

Studying philosophy fueled my curiosity about people, purpose, and growth while strengthening my skills in logic, analysis, and communication.

Alongside my education, I have been working since I was 16 years old. Through work, I discovered a profound sense of identity, community, and contribution, along with a genuine appreciation for the impact people can have on one another.

I have experienced burnout, frustration, anger, disbelief, and tears. Those challenges broadened my perspective and strengthened my empathy. My experience of personal pride, independence, creativity, and meaningful relationships has shaped an enduring belief in the value of meaningful work and human connection.

These experiences inspired me to build a career in learning and development, which quickly evolved into organization development.

As I reflect on my career, I see a common thread connecting my internal roles, consulting engagements, coaching work, and passion projects: helping people navigate change, uncover their potential, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Beyond the Work

I believe leadership is not limited to title or achievement. Leading is how we live, relate, choose, contribute, and care for ourselves and one another along the way.

And all leadership includes change leadership.

I’m a longtime Chicagoan, bike-packing novice, Aunt Betsy, senior-dog-mom, truth-seeker, full-moon-reveler, front-porch-philosopher, adventure-taker.

I’m always contemplating how people create meaning, connection, and community.
